February Favorites

Hey y’all! It’s been a minute since I posted, but I am back! I’m super excited to start a monthly series where I share some of my favorite things. I can’t believe February is ending, it feels like I just blinked and it was over. Please tell me I’m not the only one wondering where the month went.

I’ve been really quiet lately, struggling with finding direction and deciphering which areas I need to be pouring into right now. I’ll be honest and tell you that I still haven’t figured it all out, but I am pushing forward. Right now, I’m just taking each day one step at a time. Starting a business is overwhelming and stressful, but so good in so many ways. In my month of (almost) silence, I’ve felt a major disconnect from my people and I hate that. While I have been working hard on projects and personal communication with clients, there’s been a piece that is missing, and that piece is you!

Since today is the last day of February (again, crazy, right?!), I spent  time laying out my goals and intention for March and I cannot wait to get started on them. While I was reflecting this month, I started listing out some of the things I loved about February. As it just so happens, the majority of this list is phone related, but I promise there will be more variety in the future!

Favorite Podcast: The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey

!Y’all. This podcast has completely rocked my world in the best of ways and it’s probably my favorite thing on this list. The Happy Hour is a conversational podcast that talks about real life struggles and successes. The host, Jamie Ivey, is a blogger, author and wife of a worship leader. I’ve listened to this podcast almost every day for the past three weeks and I still can’t get enough. I will be very sad when I finally caught up. Each week Jamie interviews someone and invites them to share their story, whether they are a celebrity or everyday woman, it leaves me in awe of God’s grace. Seriously, you need this podcast in your life.

Favorite Workout: Tone It Up Studio App

I discovered Tone It Up a couple years ago while I was in college. I loved the workouts because they were free and easy to do in my tiny bedroom. It’s been awhile since I followed Tone It Up, though and I am excited to be back! They launched a new app with a membership option, which in my opinion is 100% worth it for the simple accountability factor. This app also has free daily moves, and their program provides alternative free workouts. However, I really love the studio set up and the ability to follow a class alongside other #TIUgirls.

Favorite Entertainment: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in Concert

I’ve been pretty obsessed with Harry Potter since day one. Day one being the day my sister and I found our dad watching Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets even though it wasn’t allowed in the house. I’ve read the books countless times and seen the movies even more, so when I heard that the Kansas City Symphony was putting on a concert alongside the film, I had to be there. It was so, so good, y’all! I got my best friend to fly in from Indiana and we had the best time. I kept finding myself getting lost in the movie I had already seen countless times, falling in love all over again. But, it was even more grand with the accompaniment by the symphony.

Favorite Devotional: She Reads Truth App

I’ve been a fan of the She Reads Truth app since college, but I haven’t used it in awhile. At the beginning of the month, a friend and I decided to start a study on the Sermon on the Mount. This has always been one of my favorite passages, but I had never actually done a study on it. What I love about this app is that it pulls other passages that point to what you are studying, and the devotional readings are real life, relatable stories. If you’re wanting to read the Word but not sure where to start, I highly recommend this app!

Favorite Business Expense: New Business Cards

Nothing makes things feel official like a business card does. I have had business cards on my list of investments to make for awhile now, but I finally made the purchase. I was meeting with a client one day, when someone asked me for my card and I unfortunately didn’t have any. In today’s techie world, it almost seems silly to need something so tangible, but print is far from dead. No amount of digital marketing will ever replace the need for human to human contact, or the value of a physical business card. If you haven’t made business cards yet, I may know a girl that can design them. Just saying.

I hope that by sharing the things I’ve been loving recently, you might find something you love, too! I know a few friends are already hooked on the Happy Hour podcast, but I’d love to know what you’re obsessing over right now! If there’s anything that you just can’t get enough of, I want to hear about it. Drop a note in the comments an let’s share our faves!
